FRSC Commences Nationwide Sallah Patrol with Deployment of 36,000 Personnel and Over 1,000 Operational Assets

In a strategic move to ensure safety and sanity on Nigerian roads during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has rolled out a nationwide special patrol operation. The Corps has mobilised no fewer than 36,000 operatives, comprising Regular Marshals and Special Marshals, alongside a comprehensive fleet of operational assets to manage the anticipated high vehicular movement during the festive period.

According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Segun Ogungbemide, the special operation will run from Thursday, June 5 to Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The deployment includes 750 patrol vehicles, 120 ambulances, 25 tow trucks, and over 200 motorbikes, which are expected to be strategically stationed along critical corridors and high-risk routes across the country.

The Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, while addressing the rationale behind the large-scale mobilisation, stated that the primary objective is to facilitate the free flow of traffic, ensure rapid response to emergencies, and promptly remove obstructions from major highways. He added that the exercise is designed not only to ease vehicular movement before, during, and after the Sallah celebrations, but also to drastically reduce the incidence of road traffic crashes through sustained visibility and enforcement patrols.

He further emphasized that part of the Corps’ strategy for the Sallah period includes aggressive public enlightenment campaigns aimed at sensitising drivers and other road users on safe driving practices, particularly as the volume of road traffic is expected to rise significantly during the holidays.

The FRSC is also collaborating with other security and emergency response agencies to ensure a coordinated effort in managing traffic and responding to emergencies. Corps Marshal Biu urged motorists to cooperate with officers on duty, obey traffic regulations, avoid overloading, speeding, and drunk driving—common infractions that typically spike during festive seasons.

As Nigerians prepare to celebrate the Eid festivities, the FRSC reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining order on the highways, encouraging travelers to be patient and safety-conscious throughout the period.
