FRSC Ojota Unit Hosts Children’s Day Event, Champions Road Safety Awareness

IKEJA — In a vibrant celebration of Children’s Day, the Ojota Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS 2.15, brought together pupils from across its jurisdiction on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, for a day of education, fun, and safety advocacy at the Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park, Alausa, Ikeja.

Organised in partnership with key stakeholders, the event focused on sensitising young Nigerians on the importance of road safety. Highlighting the theme of protecting the most vulnerable road users—children—the celebration included a series of educational activities designed to instill safety-conscious habits from an early age.

One of the high points of the day was the formal induction of Emerald Schools into the FRSC Road Safety Club, reinforcing the Corps’ grassroots drive to spread awareness among schoolchildren. A spirited quiz competition tested the pupils’ knowledge of traffic signs, safety practices, and emergency responses. The Apostolic Church School, Ketu, clinched the top prize, earning applause from attendees and officials alike.

Speaking during the event, the Unit Commander, CRC Toyin S. Oladoke, underscored the need to raise a generation of responsible road users. “It’s never too early to teach safety. These children are not just passengers; they are future drivers, cyclists, and leaders. Educating them now is an investment in a safer Nigeria,” she said.

Children were also treated to entertainment, interactive safety tips, and refreshments, creating a balanced experience of learning and leisure. The event recorded significant turnout from various schools and drew commendation from parents and stakeholders for its community-centered approach.

The FRSC continues to use platforms like Children’s Day to reinforce its commitment to road safety education and reduce accidents involving minors across the country.
