FRSC RS2 Lagos Commands Strategize for Eid-el-Kabir Traffic Management

As part of preparations for the anticipated surge in vehicular movement during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS2 Lagos, Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Ann Oluwakemi Oladayo, fsi, convened a high-level strategic meeting on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The session brought together Sector Commanders from RS 2.1 Lagos and RS 2.2 Ogun at the Zonal Headquarters in Lagos to fine-tune operational plans aimed at ensuring seamless traffic management and public safety throughout the festive period.

The meeting focused on strengthening inter-sectoral collaboration to deliver efficient traffic control and prompt emergency response on critical corridors, particularly the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which traditionally experiences heavy traffic during Muslim festivities.

ACM Oladayo emphasized the need for proactive deployment and synergy between the sector commands to manage expected traffic volumes, reduce road crashes, and ensure the safety of road users.

“Our goal is to provide a robust response to traffic challenges during this season by leveraging collaboration, strategic planning, and visibility. All units must be on high alert and demonstrate the professionalism expected of the Corps,” she said.

Key strategies adopted during the meeting include:

Intensive day and night patrol operations across identified black spots and congested routes

Joint enforcement activities targeting traffic violations such as route deviation, overloading, and speeding

Strategic positioning of rescue teams and standby personnel for swift intervention in emergencies

The Zonal Commander charged all officers to uphold the Corps’ core values of integrity, promptness, and courtesy while engaging motorists and commuters during the festive season.

The FRSC urged the public to cooperate with officials, obey traffic rules, and plan their journeys ahead of time. The Corps also reassured the public of its commitment to a safe, secure, and stress-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Lagos and Ogun states.
