Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed allegations linking him to fraudulent business dealings, cautioning against attempts to tarnish his reputation through misinformation.
Fubara addressed the claims in a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The governor was responding to viral reports suggesting he was involved in illicit financial activities, which he described as “false” and “malicious.”
He urged authorities to investigate the sources of these reports and take action against those spreading misinformation.
The statement read, “Our attention has, once again, been drawn to a series of baseless and fabricated reports alleging fraudulent financial activities involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“Virtually all these false reports attempt to link the governor to dubious business dealings, with their creators desperately trying to associate him with financial misconduct.
“Several financial institutions and regulatory bodies have already dismissed these claims, reaffirming that all transactions linked to the governor are legitimate, transparent, and in line with due process.”
Fubara stressed that he has no involvement in any fraudulent business activities and would never engage in any act that compromises ethical governance or economic integrity.
The statement added, “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no connection to any fraudulent business, has never contemplated engaging in such practices, and has no reason to associate with individuals or groups involved in financial misconduct.
“The governor has consistently emphasized, at every public engagement, his commitment to transparency and accountability, as these are fundamental to governance and development.”
Fubara also warned those spreading misinformation to desist, accusing them of trying to manipulate public perception for political gain.
“Regulatory and security agencies should take note of these false reports designed to mislead the public and damage the governor’s reputation, and take necessary action to hold those responsible accountable,” he said.
