FUO Emerges Overall 3rd With 11 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze at 8th Nigerian Private Varsity Games

Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO) has once again proven its strength and excellence beyond academics by securing an impressive 3rd place overall position at the just-concluded 8th Nigerian Private University Games (NPUGA).

The University’s athletes delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of 20 medals — 11 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze — across different sporting categories. This remarkable feat firmly places FUO among the top three sporting private universities in the country.

Speaking after the event, the Vice-Chancellor of FUO, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, congratulated the athletes, the Lead Coach, Mr. Ganiyu Adedokun and other coaches for their resilience, discipline, and determination. She noted that the achievement reflects FUO’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also talent development and holistic education.

“At Fountain University, we are intentional about providing opportunities for our students to thrive in every sphere. This victory is a clear testimony that FUO is raising champions who excel both in learning and in character,” Prof. Karim said.

The Chief Coach, Mr. Ganiyu Adedokun and student-athletes also expressed gratitude for the University’s unwavering support, affirming that the medals won will serve as motivation for greater exploits in future competitions.

FUO’s success at NPUGA underscores its position as a fast-rising force in Nigeria’s private university sports landscape. The University community continues to celebrate this victory, which adds to its growing record of achievements.
