Gabon Rolls Out Free eVisa for Tourists in Big Tourism Push

Gabon has announced a major boost for its tourism sector with the launch of a free electronic visa for all international travellers visiting the country between July 1 and September 30, 2025.

The exciting news was shared on June 30 during a press conference held in Libreville, the nation’s capital. The announcement was made by Gabon’s Minister of Tourism, Pascal Ogowe Siffon, alongside the Minister of the Interior, Hermann Immongault.

The free eVisa is part of Gabon’s second edition of the Caravane Touristique programme. This initiative is designed to open the doors of Gabon to the world, making it easier for foreigners to visit and experience the country’s natural beauty, rich culture, and unique wildlife.

Speaking at the event, Minister Siffon described the move as “a bold step to boost tourism and show the world what Gabon has to offer.” He explained that by removing visa costs and paperwork, more travellers will be encouraged to choose Gabon as their next holiday destination.

The eVisa will be available online, meaning tourists can apply from anywhere in the world without visiting an embassy. It is also completely free, saving visitors both time and money.

For many years, Gabon has been recognised for its lush rainforests, national parks, and unspoiled landscapes, but strict visa rules and high travel costs have discouraged some potential visitors. With this new initiative, the government hopes to change that narrative.

The free eVisa is part of a broader campaign to put Gabon on the global tourism map and stimulate the country’s economy through increased foreign visits. Locals working in hospitality, transport, and tourism services are expected to benefit from the anticipated rise in tourist numbers.

Travellers planning to visit Gabon during the July to September window are encouraged to take advantage of the offer, explore the country’s stunning eco-tourism destinations, and enjoy a warm Gabonese welcome, all without paying a single franc for their visa.
