Glo Unveils Nigeria’s First Device Protection Service for Subscribers

Lagos, July 25, 2025 — In a groundbreaking move within the Nigerian telecom industry, digital solutions giant Globacom has launched a Device Protection service for its subscribers, marking the first of its kind in the country. The new service, introduced in partnership with technology protection firm Cubecover, aims to safeguard customers’ mobile devices against theft, screen damage, and other unforeseen mishaps.

Announcing the innovation, Globacom said the initiative is tailored to meet the growing concerns of smartphone users who face challenges replacing or repairing their devices due to high costs. The Device Protection service allows subscribers to access repairs or replacements at subsidized costs when incidents such as screen cracks or theft occur.

According to the company, the protection plans are flexible and available to both prepaid and postpaid customers, with easy registration through the Glo network. The plans cover a wide range of smartphones and devices, offering various tiers of protection based on customer preference and budget.

“This is another demonstration of Glo’s commitment to customer satisfaction through innovative and value-added services,” a company statement noted. “With Cubecover’s expertise in technology protection and our robust nationwide coverage, we are ensuring that our subscribers enjoy peace of mind with their devices.”

Industry analysts have commended the initiative as a timely response to the realities of digital dependence, where mobile devices are central to communication, business, and social interaction.

Customers can subscribe to the service via the Glo website, designated retail outlets, or by dialing a short USSD code provided by the telecom firm.
