The world is more connected than ever. A decision made in Abuja can affect lives in Jakarta.
As Muslim youth, we are ambassadors of Islam and agents of positive change, locally and globally.
Our deen (religion) guides us to care for others, act justly, and improve society.

What is Global Citizenship in Islam?
Living with a sense of responsibility for the entire ummah and all of creation.
It means: Caring for people beyond borders.
Promoting justice, peace, mercy, and accountability.
Reflecting Islamic values in all we do.

Islamic Principles That Promote Global Citizenship

Brotherhood “Indeed, the believers are but brothers…” (Qur’an 49:10
Treat all Muslims and non-Muslims with empathy.
Justice “O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice…” (Qur’an 4:135) Fight injustice anywhere in Nigeria or abroad.
Mercy “We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (Qur’an 21:107)
Be compassionate in daily interactions and online.
Environmental Stewardship “Do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.” (Qur’an 2:60) Protect the planet, climate change is a global issue.
Accountability “Every soul is accountable for what it has earned.” (Qur’an 74:38).Think before you act your local choices have global consequences.

How Your Local Actions Have Global Impact

Good Character (Akhlaq): Politeness on the road, honesty in business, builds a positive image of Islam globally.

Online Behavior: Your tweets and TikToks represent Nigerian Muslims to the world.
“Let whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good or remain silent.” – Hadith

Avoiding Fraud/Yahoo Yahoo:
“He who cheats is not of us.” – Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
Your honesty strengthens the global trust in Nigerian Muslims.

Supporting Local Orphans or Needy:
You fulfill both sadaqah and global goals like poverty eradication (UN SDGs).

Support halal businesses and ethical products.
Educate others about Islam with wisdom and kindness.
Use your social media to share truth, call for justice, and promote peace.

Dr. Bashir Ladan Global Islamic finance expert.
They started local just like you and now influence the world.

Practical Steps You Can Take Now

Start a charity effort at school or your mosque.
Follow Muslim environmental or humanitarian organizations.
Join online da’wah movements or youth forums.
Pray for the global ummah, but also act in your own corner.
