Governor Makinde Challenges Police Cadets To Be Change Agents

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on Course 7 Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police from the state to become exemplary officers and positive change agents within the Nigerian Police Force.

The Governor made this appeal on Wednesday while hosting 39 Cadets at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, the state capital. During the meeting, Makinde emphasized that integrity, discipline, and professionalism must be their guiding principles as they perform their duties.
Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to establishing a safe and secure environment for all residents, stressing that security continues to be a cornerstone of his governance agenda.

The Governor highlighted two retired Commissioners of Police currently serving in his government, Fatai Owoseni and Sunday Odukoya, describing them as outstanding representatives of the police institution. He encouraged the cadets to follow their example to build distinguished careers in law enforcement.

“Let me say this, I’ve worked with great minds within the police. So, when the opportunity came for me, and my ADC told me I have to meet the cadet ASPs, I said yes! I’d like to meet them before they go into the thick of their careers,” Governor Makinde stated.
Earlier in the meeting, Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola, who led the delegation, expressed gratitude to the governor for his unwavering support for security agencies, particularly the police in Oyo State.
The Commissioner explained that the Cadet ASPs were in the state for their mandatory internship training to acquire fundamental skills about police operations and procedures.
CP Adenola assured the governor that the Oyo State Police Command remains firmly committed to maintaining peace and security throughout the state.
