Governor Oborevwori Accelerates Infrastructure Development Across Delta’s 25 LGAs

Asaba, July 2, 2025 — Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has intensified the pace of infrastructure development across the state’s 25 Local Government Areas, signalling a firm commitment to equitable growth, regional integration, and enhanced quality of life for all Deltans.

The initiative, part of the state’s broader development agenda, is aimed at expanding access, improving road networks, and strengthening local economies. The administration’s focus on comprehensive infrastructure is already delivering tangible progress, particularly in areas long underserved by major government projects.

In Udu Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori’s administration is currently executing a 27.8-kilometre road network, strategically designed to connect several communities within Udu and link them to adjoining LGAs, including Ughelli South, Warri Southwest, and Uvwie. This effort is complemented by the construction of 24 kilometres of drainage systems to improve water management, mitigate flooding, and ensure the longevity of the road infrastructure.

“These roads are not just about connectivity,” a senior state government official noted during a project inspection. “They are lifelines that boost commerce, enable movement, and foster unity among communities. With improved drainage, we’re also addressing persistent environmental challenges that have affected these areas for years.”

Local residents have welcomed the developments, praising the governor’s commitment to inclusive growth and direct intervention in grassroots areas. Traders and transporters in particular have expressed optimism that the projects will lead to increased patronage, reduced travel times, and better economic prospects.

Governor Oborevwori has consistently stated that his administration is focused on bridging development gaps across urban and rural areas, ensuring that infrastructure expansion reaches every corner of the state. His emphasis on transparency, quality execution, and timely delivery has also drawn commendations from civil society groups monitoring the pace of work across various LGAs.

As the projects continue, the Delta State Government assures that similar interventions will roll out across other LGAs in line with the state’s infrastructure masterplan, aimed at unlocking economic opportunities, improving social welfare, and laying the foundation for sustained prosperity.
