Governor Sanwo-Olu Commissions Dual Housing Projects in Surulere

LAGOS — Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, May 19, 2025, officially commissioned two major housing projects in Surulere as part of efforts to reduce the housing deficit and promote urban renewal across the state.

The commissioned projects include the Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments located at Obele-Oniwala and the Crown Exquisite Homes at the Olaleye New Town Estate in Iponri. Both developments were delivered through public-private partnerships facilitated by the Lagos Building Investment Company (LBIC).

The Greater Lagos Apartments span 3.7 hectares and comprise 21 blocks with a total of 378 housing units in one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations. The project is targeted at low and middle-income earners and aims to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Meanwhile, the Crown Exquisite Homes project, situated on over 7,000 square metres of land, offers 64 four-bedroom maisonettes with modern facilities. The estate was developed in collaboration with Exquisite Homes Limited and is part of the Olaleye New Town redevelopment initiative.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the delivery of inclusive and sustainable housing under the THEMES Plus development agenda. He emphasized that the housing projects not only provide shelter but also create jobs, stimulate the local economy, and enhance community development.

“These projects are part of our vision for a Greater Lagos, where access to decent housing is a right and not a privilege,” the governor stated.

He also called on private sector stakeholders to partner with the government in bridging the state’s housing gap.

The event was attended by state officials, housing stakeholders, and community leaders, all of whom lauded the governor’s efforts in transforming the residential landscape of Surulere and Lagos State at large.
