KADUNA, NIGERIA — In a demonstration of empathy and responsive leadership, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has extended relief materials and financial support to residents affected by recent disasters across various local government areas of the state.
Speaking during a humanitarian outreach held on Tuesday, Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare of every citizen, especially vulnerable groups impacted by natural and man-made disasters.
The intervention, coordinated through the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), included the distribution of food items, building materials, household essentials, and cash assistance to families affected by floods, fire outbreaks, and other emergencies in communities across Chikun, Zaria, Igabi, and Kauru LGAs.
According to the governor, the initiative reflects the state government’s proactive stance in mitigating the effects of disasters while also rebuilding hope and dignity for displaced and distressed families.
“We are not only here to provide relief but to also assure our people that they are not alone. Our administration will continue to prioritize safety nets, disaster preparedness, and the wellbeing of every Kaduna resident,” he stated.
Governor Sani further charged local government officials and community leaders to strengthen early warning systems and emergency response frameworks to reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience in high-risk areas.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government, describing the gesture as timely and life-saving. Many recounted the devastating losses they suffered and praised the administration for responding swiftly and compassionately.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, Abubakar Hassan, noted that the relief programme was informed by assessments conducted by the agency in collaboration with traditional rulers and community development councils. He said the items were tailored to meet the specific needs of affected families.
The humanitarian outreach is part of the governor’s broader social protection strategy aimed at building a more inclusive and compassionate Kaduna, especially for low-income earners and disaster-prone communities.
Governor Uba Sani reaffirmed that his administration will continue to partner with national and international agencies to strengthen disaster management systems, and he called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to complement the government’s efforts in building a safer, people-centered state.
