Guy Rest Small” – Netizens Drag Davido Over Claim His Father Once Sent Him $300,000

Award-winning Nigerian singer and DMW boss, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stirred online controversy following a recent revelation that his billionaire father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, once sent him a whopping $300,000 after a performance.

Speaking in a recent interview, the music star explained that despite his personal wealth and earnings from music, his father still occasionally supports him financially. According to Davido, he primarily funds his musical projects, including album promotions, from the proceeds of his work, but his father has never hesitated to lend a helping hand when needed.

Recalling a memorable moment, Davido narrated how Dr. Adeleke attended one of his concerts at the State Farm Arena and, afterward, expressed his pride by crediting his account with $300,000. “I’m his baby, of course my dad still gives me a cheque,” Davido said with a laugh during the interview.

While the singer’s statement drew admiration from some fans who applauded the father-son bond and financial support, a large section of social media users appeared unimpressed, accusing him of constantly flaunting his family’s wealth.

Reacting to the revelation, one X user, @cruzzyofficial1, wrote: “My dad this, my dad that. Guy rest small.” Another user, @r33dwan, mocked the situation saying, “Poor man pikin go think say Davido papa na electrician.”

In similar tones, @bigbigfc_ commented: “Too much lies. You get money, you no get talent,” while @PurpleKingTony remarked, “David will be more likeable if he told the truth, he has nothing to prove so I don’t understand. It’s a Lagos and short man thing sha, unprovoked falsehoods.”

However, not all comments were negative. Some netizens stood in support of the singer, with @knightbrolow24 stating: “David papa dey spoil am sha… as it should be.”

The reactions have once again reignited conversations around Davido’s affluent background and the role it has played in shaping his career, with opinions sharply divided between critics who demand humility and supporters who believe he owes no one an apology for his upbringing.
