Saudi Arabia – June 3, 2025 — The Saudi authorities have announced that the Holy Sites Metro is set to carry out over 4,900 train journeys during the seven days of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, with an estimated 2 million passengers expected to utilize the service.
The metro network, which connects key pilgrimage sites including Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, is a vital component of Saudi Arabia’s logistics and crowd management strategy for Hajj. The system helps reduce road congestion, improve safety, and ensure efficient movement of pilgrims between rituals.
The Saudi Railway Company and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah have assured pilgrims of seamless operations, enhanced schedules, and safety measures in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to modernize pilgrimage infrastructure.
The operation of the Holy Sites Metro is part of broader efforts by the Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites to harness technology and transport innovation in managing one of the largest annual human gatherings in the world.
