Hajj 2025: Pilgrims Directed to Stay in Air-Conditioned Tents Amid Extreme Heat

In response to forecasted soaring temperatures exceeding 45°C during the peak period of Hajj 2025, the Saudi Ministry of Health has issued directives requiring all pilgrims to remain inside air-conditioned tents from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

This precautionary measure aims to safeguard the health and well-being of the over 1.4 million pilgrims expected to perform the pilgrimage this year. The ministry’s announcement underscores the heightened risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke, due to the extreme climatic conditions.

Pilgrims are urged to strictly adhere to the guidelines to minimize exposure to the intense midday sun, particularly during the critical rituals in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. Health officials have also recommended increased hydration, wearing light and breathable clothing, and making use of shaded areas when outdoors.

The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Hajj authorities, has ensured the deployment of enhanced medical support facilities and personnel across all pilgrimage sites to promptly attend to any heat-related emergencies.

This directive is part of a broader set of measures implemented by Saudi authorities to ensure a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching Hajj experience amid the challenging weather conditions expected during the pilgrimage season.

Pilgrims and tour operators are advised to remain vigilant and comply fully with all health and safety instructions issued by the authorities throughout the Hajj period.
