Hajj Ministry Advises Pilgrims to Take Precautionary Measures Against Intense Sun During Rituals

In a continued effort to safeguard the health and well-being of pilgrims, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued vital safety guidelines for those performing Hajj and Umrah rituals under the scorching sun. The advisory, targeted particularly at those navigating the sacred rites during the hotter parts of the day, highlights the need for sun protection as an essential part of a safe pilgrimage experience.

According to the Ministry, pilgrims are encouraged to avoid outdoor movement during peak heat hours, typically between late morning and mid-afternoon, when temperatures in Makkah and its environs can rise to dangerous levels. Exposure to such extreme heat can lead to dehydration, fatigue, or more severe heat-related illnesses.

To reduce the risks, the Ministry recommends the use of sun umbrellas, especially while moving between ritual points during the day. Pilgrims are also urged to stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water and fluids throughout their journey. Wearing appropriate ihram attire that offers full body coverage while remaining breathable is also crucial in maintaining body temperature and protecting the skin.

These precautions are part of broader safety protocols designed to ensure pilgrims can carry out their worship with minimal health complications. The guidance reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing investment in both infrastructure and public health strategies as part of Vision 2030, which prioritises enhanced experiences for all guests of the Two Holy Mosques.

Pilgrims are reminded to follow all health advisories issued during the pilgrimage season.
