Former Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has commended Professor HI Owamah for his dedication to academic excellence and personal development, stating that hard work remains a reliable pathway to success and national relevance.
Dr. Okowa made the remarks during a public commendation ceremony held in Asaba in honour of Prof. Owamah, a renowned environmental engineer and scholar who recently attained significant recognition both locally and internationally for his contributions to research and youth empowerment.
According to the former governor, Prof. Owamah’s story is an inspiring example of how determination, integrity, and intellectual commitment can lift an individual from humble beginnings to the peak of excellence.
“We are proud of Prof. Owamah. He has not only flown the flag of Delta high but has shown the world that with hard work, discipline, and purpose, anyone can rise to greatness,” Dr. Okowa said.
Prof. Owamah, who is a lecturer at the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, has received multiple awards in recent years, including international fellowships and citations for his work in environmental sustainability and water resource management.
He expressed gratitude to Dr. Okowa and the people of Delta State for the recognition, pledging to continue contributing to national development through research, mentorship, and innovation.
The event was attended by academic figures, traditional rulers, youth groups, and political stakeholders, all of whom lauded Prof. Owamah’s achievements as a source of pride for the state and an encouragement for young Nigerians.
