Heavy Lagos Rainfall Disrupts Air Peace Flight Schedules

LAGOS – Air Peace, a major Nigerian airline, experienced significant flight delays across its network on Tuesday morning due to adverse weather conditions in Lagos.

The airline confirmed the disruptions in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, attributing the delays to a heavy downpour that impacted its operational hub at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

According to the statement, the adverse weather conditions forced adjustments to its flight schedules. The airline, however, assured passengers that their safety remained its primary concern.

“We wish to inform you that due to the heavy downpour of rain in Lagos this morning, some flights across our operating networks will be delayed,” the airline stated.

Air Peace acknowledged that the situation was beyond its control but emphasized its efforts to minimize the inconvenience caused to travelers.

“While weather is beyond our control and safety remains our utmost priority, we appeal for your understanding as we manage the disruptions as best as we can and get you to your destinations safely,” the statement read.

The airline further reinforced its commitment to safety, noting that it is “not just a priority but a core commitment.”

The disruption follows a weather forecast released by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Sunday, which predicted thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

NiMet’s outlook had anticipated isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains in several northern and central states, including Kaduna, Adamawa, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory, with a warning of potential flash floods in areas like Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states.

Passengers booked on Air Peace flights are advised to check the airline’s official website or contact their customer service for real-time updates on flight statuses.
