Helicopter To Kogi Rally Was Husband’s Suggestion, Says Suspended Senator Natasha

In a dramatic turn of events that has captivated political observers across the nation, suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central has revealed that her decision to use a helicopter to attend a rally in her constituency was based on her husband’s recommendation.

Speaking during an exclusive interview , the embattled lawmaker explained that the aerial transport solution became necessary after discovering that conventional road access had been compromised.

The helicopter idea came from my husband, the senator disclosed during the televised interview. When we realized that all the roads leading to my residence had been blocked, he suggested we utilize air transportation as an alternative means of reaching my people.

The controversial homecoming rally, which took place in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, proceeded despite recent directives from Kogi State authorities prohibiting political gatherings and motorcades in the region. Government officials had cited security considerations as justification for the restrictions.

Addressing the massive crowd that had assembled to welcome her, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan defiantly proclaimed her connection to the community. “This place is my ancestral home, this is where I belong. Nobody possesses the authority to prevent me from visiting my birthplace. I am proud to be the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti,” she declared to thunderous applause from supporters.

When questioned about potential violations of government directives, the suspended senator maintained her innocence. I have broken no laws whatsoever. The gathering was conducted entirely on my private property. I personally financed the construction of the access road to my residence. Therefore, no regulations were contravened, she insisted during the interview.

The senator further alleged that the timing of the government’s restrictions was deliberately calculated to coincide with her scheduled constituency visit, suggesting political motivations behind the official proclamation.

This development comes amid ongoing tensions between the senator and state authorities, including her recent public confrontation with former governor Yahaya Bello regarding corruption allegations. The police had previously issued warnings advising the senator to cancel her homecoming event.
