Abuja, June 21, 2025 – As part of activities commemorating the 2025 Civil Service Week, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction led by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, observed a special Jumat prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.
The solemn gathering brought together Muslim faithful from within the ministry and the broader civil service community to offer prayers for the nation, the civil service, and the continued success of government programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians.
Dr. Adamu, who led the delegation, described the prayer session as a spiritual reflection on the essence of public service, urging civil servants to remain committed, disciplined, and service-driven in the discharge of their duties. He noted that the weeklong celebration is an opportunity to renew dedication to the values of transparency, accountability, and compassion, especially in service to the most disadvantaged citizens.
“Our mandate in the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Ministry is deeply tied to the welfare of the people. As we observe Civil Service Week, we reflect not only on our achievements but on our responsibility to serve humanity with sincerity and excellence,” he said.
The event also served as a platform to pray for peace, unity, and economic stability in the country. Participants sought divine guidance for public officials and civil servants as they work to implement policies that address poverty, displacement, and humanitarian crises nationwide.
Civil Service Week, observed annually across various ministries and agencies, is dedicated to recognising the role of public servants in nation-building and promoting innovation, integrity, and effective service delivery in the public sector.
