New Delhi, India — A survivor of the tragic plane crash that occurred in India on Thursday has recounted the horrifying moments the aircraft went down, describing the experience as a miracle of survival.
The passenger, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, shared the emotional account while receiving treatment at a local hospital.
“I opened my eyes and realised I was still alive. There was smoke, panic, people crying for help. It felt like a nightmare,” the survivor said, visibly shaken but grateful to be alive.
The domestic flight, operated by a private Indian airline, reportedly crashed during landing amid poor weather conditions, skidding off the runway and bursting into flames. Emergency response teams quickly moved in to rescue passengers, with dozens sustaining various degrees of injury.
Authorities confirmed that at least 8 people lost their lives, while over 40 others were injured. Investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the crash, with preliminary reports pointing to technical failure and severe weather turbulence as possible factors.
India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and promised a thorough probe.
“We will leave no stone unturned in understanding what went wrong. Passenger safety remains our top priority,” he assured.
The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over aviation safety standards in the region, especially as monsoon season heightens the risk of such accidents.
