The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has reaffirmed its strict zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice following a viral video alleging impersonation during one of its examinations.
The video reportedly shows a man apprehended for allegedly sitting the exam on behalf of a bank manager, and a woman claiming to be writing the test for a commissioner in Taraba State.
ICAN’s registrar, Lanre Olasunkanmi, condemned the alleged malpractice and emphasized the institute’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations.
He confirmed that a formal investigation has been launched to verify the claims and take appropriate action.
The institute also urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow due process to take its course, reaffirming its role in upholding professional standards and safeguarding the credibility of accountancy examinations in Nigeria.
