International Activists Mobilise in Egypt for Solidarity March to Gaza, Demand End to Palestinian Suffering

In a renewed global show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, hundreds of activists from across the world are set to converge in Egypt as part of the Global March to Gaza, an international initiative aimed at challenging the ongoing blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and drawing attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.

The campaign, which has drawn participants from various continents, will see protesters marching through Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula with the aim of reaching the Rafah border crossing—the only entry point into Gaza not directly controlled by Israel. Organisers say the march is a peaceful demonstration designed to call global attention to what they describe as the systematic oppression and military siege that has left Gaza’s population isolated and in distress.

According to sources familiar with the movement, the marchers are united in their demand for an immediate end to what has been widely condemned as a humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged Palestinian territory. The activists are also calling on world leaders and international bodies to intervene decisively to halt what they term acts of genocide and collective punishment against innocent civilians in Gaza.

While the Egyptian authorities have yet to formally comment on the march, preparations are underway, with security expected to be tight due to the sensitive nature of the route and the political implications of the demonstration. The Global March to Gaza forms part of a broader international campaign advocating for Palestinian rights and urging an end to decades of conflict, occupation, and blockade.

The movement comes amid growing calls from human rights organisations, civil society groups, and some governments urging Israel to lift its blockade, which has been in place since 2007, severely restricting the movement of people and goods in and out of Gaza. Critics argue that the siege has crippled the enclave’s economy, decimated healthcare infrastructure, and left over two million people in dire conditions.

As the global outcry grows, the march is expected to send a strong symbolic message to the international community about the urgency of addressing the plight of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, where families continue to face food shortages, displacement, and violence.
