Iran’s Atomic Chief Declares Underground Nuclear Facilities Fully Operational

Tehran, Iran – June 17, 2025

In a bold response to escalating regional tensions, the Chief of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, has declared that the country’s underground nuclear facilities remain fully operational despite recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

Speaking to local media on Tuesday, Eslami emphasized the resilience of Iran’s nuclear program, stating that not only are the fortified underground sites functioning as intended, but Iranian scientists are now “more motivated than ever” to advance the nation’s nuclear capabilities.

His remarks come in the wake of overnight Israeli airstrikes that reportedly targeted strategic military and nuclear sites in Iran. While Iran has not confirmed the extent of the damage, the statements from Eslami signal Tehran’s intention to project strength and continuity in the face of mounting external pressure.

Eslami also reiterated Iran’s stance that its nuclear programme remains peaceful and in line with international treaties, while accusing Israel of engaging in destabilizing aggression under the guise of preemptive defense.

The announcement adds to an increasingly volatile situation in the region, as global powers call for de-escalation and adherence to diplomatic channels.
