Islamic Leader Calls for Calm Over Edo Massacre

The Chief Imam of the Goni Muktar Islamic Centre, Prof. Musa Tukur, has urged authorities to investigate the Edo massacre and cautioned Muslims against taking the law into their own hands. He made this statement during his sermon after the two rakaat prayers, emphasizing the importance of Eld el-fitir and life after Ramadan. Tukur also encouraged Muslims to continue showing love and happiness to their community.

Meanwhile, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni joined hundreds of Muslim faithful at the Yobe Islamic Centre for the two rakaat Eld el-fitir prayers, marking the end of Ramadan fasting for the Islamic calendar year 1446 AH. The prayer was led by Sheikh Hudu Mohammed, who urged Muslims to apply the lessons learned during Ramadan to their daily lives.

Sheikh Hudu Mohammed emphasized the importance of sacrifice, love, and happiness during his sermon, saying, “I urge you to observe the lessons learned in sacrifice during the month of Ramadan, show love and happiness to fellow Muslims, and non-Muslims alike.”

The Eld prayers were peacefully conducted across various locations, with Prof. Ali Manzo and Dr. Sani Mohammed Nguru delivering a pre-sermon lecture on the significance of Eld el-fitir. Dr. Mohammed advised Muslims to continue being their brother’s keeper, adhering to the lessons learned during Ramadan.
