itel CSR: How itel Ended Water Scarcity in Brigade Gama (B) Kasuwar Takari Community

In a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to mark World Water Day 2025, itel has successfully addressed the long-standing water crisis in Brigade Gama (B) Kasuwar Takari community by commissioning an electric-powered borehole that now provides clean and safe water to residents. This project, launched amid growing concerns over water scarcity and sanitation challenges in many Nigerian communities, has brought much-needed relief to the area, ensuring reliable access to potable water for domestic and commercial use.

The intervention by itel is part of the company’s broader commitment to improving living conditions and supporting sustainable development in underserved communities. Prior to the borehole installation, Brigade Gama residents faced severe difficulties accessing clean water, often relying on unsafe sources that posed health risks. The new borehole, powered by electricity, guarantees a consistent and hygienic water supply, significantly reducing waterborne diseases and improving overall community health.

This initiative aligns with national and continental efforts to enhance water resource management and sanitation, as emphasized during the recent 6th African Regional Conference on Irrigation and Drainage (ARCID 2025) held in Abuja, where stakeholders called for innovative and inclusive solutions to Africa’s water challenges. By investing in such practical infrastructure, itel not only demonstrates corporate responsibility but also contributes to Nigeria’s goals of sustainable agriculture, improved public health, and climate resilience.

Community leaders and residents have expressed profound gratitude to itel for its timely intervention, noting that the borehole has transformed daily life by reducing the time and effort previously spent fetching water. This project exemplifies how private sector involvement can complement government efforts to tackle critical issues like water scarcity, ultimately fostering socio-economic development and enhancing quality of life in Nigerian communities.
