Nikola Jokic scored a career-high 61 points, including a record-breaking triple-double, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Denver Nuggets as they fell 140-139 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime.
Jokic’s impressive performance included 10 rebounds and 10 assists, surpassing Russell Westbrook’s previous record of 57 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. Despite his efforts, the Nuggets were unable to hold off the Timberwolves, who were led by Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s clutch free throws with 0.1 seconds remaining.
The Timberwolves were without Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo, who were serving one-match bans, but managed to secure a crucial win that lifted them to seventh in the Western Conference. The Nuggets, meanwhile, dropped to third.
In other NBA action, Stephen Curry put on a show for the Golden State Warriors, hitting 12 three-pointers in a 52-point haul as they beat the Memphis Grizzlies 134-125. Curry’s impressive performance earned praise from Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who marveled at the 37-year-old’s conditioning, skill, and audacity. The win lifted the Warriors above the Grizzlies and into fifth in the Western Conference.
