Kaduna Police Summon Ex-Governor El-Rufai, Six ADC Leaders Over Alleged Public Offenses

The Kaduna State Police Command has invited former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, alongside six senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi, the ADC State Chairman was directed to produce the individuals at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kaduna, on Monday, September 8, 2025, to clarify allegations contained in a complaint filed by yet-to-be-identified parties.

The individuals listed in the police summons include:

Nasir El-Rufai (former Governor of Kaduna State)

Bashir Sa’idu

Jafaru Sani

Ubaidullah Mohammed, a.k.a. “30”

Nasiru Maikano

Aminu Abita

Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini, a.k.a. “Mikiya”

The invitation comes amid heightened political tensions in Kaduna, with reports indicating that the ADC secretariat in Kaduna was sealed by security operatives on Thursday, ahead of a scheduled visit by the party’s North-West leadership. The development follows recent attacks on an ADC/SDP coalition meeting in the state and an intensifying political standoff between El-Rufai and the Kaduna State government.

According to multiple reports, several of those named in the summons first became aware of the invitation through social media circulation of the police letter, rather than direct notification.

As of Thursday evening, the Kaduna Police Command had not publicly disclosed details of the complaint or the identity of the petitioners. Neither El-Rufai nor the ADC has issued an official statement in response to the police action.

The invited individuals are expected to appear at the SCID headquarters, Kaduna, on September 8, 2025.
