Kaduna State has taken another strategic step towards economic revitalization as Governor Uba Sani today signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), solidifying a transformative partnership aimed at expanding the state’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) ecosystem.
The MoU, signed by Governor Sani on behalf of the Kaduna State Government and Mr. Charles Odii, Director General of SMEDAN, marks a significant milestone in the state’s economic inclusion drive. The agreement will enhance access to finance, improve business development support, and create more job opportunities through the rapid growth of MSMEs.
Governor Sani highlighted that, under his administration, the number of MSMEs in Kaduna has surged from under 20,000 to over 180,000 in just two years — a feat that underscores the government’s deliberate efforts to empower local businesses and promote inclusive economic growth.
“This MoU is more than a formal agreement; it is a shared commitment to unlocking the entrepreneurial potential of Kaduna State and positioning it as a hub for innovation and job creation,” the governor stated.
Commending Kaduna State for its visionary leadership, Mr. Odii praised the administration’s strong focus on peace and security, infrastructure development, and human capital investment. He further lauded Kaduna as the best-performing state in SME support nationwide, and the first to adopt this forward-thinking initiative with SMEDAN.
“Kaduna has shown that with the right policies and commitment, states can become models of sustainable economic transformation,” Odii remarked.
The agreement is expected to deepen collaborative efforts in financial inclusion, digital entrepreneurship, enterprise formalization, and business training—particularly targeting youth and women-led ventures. The initiative also aims to strengthen Kaduna’s positioning as a destination for investors and business startups.
As Kaduna State continues to champion economic innovation, this partnership signals a renewed push toward achieving shared prosperity through sustainable enterprise development.
