As Northern Nigeria positions itself as a competitive player in the country’s expanding digital space, Katsina State has been officially announced as the host of the second edition of Arewa Tech Fest, scheduled to take place from May 20 to 22, 2025.
The announcement was made by the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communications Technology (KATDICT), which noted that the festival is not just a tech gathering but a movement aimed at forging innovation, collaboration, and inclusive digital development across the region.
According to the official release, Arewa Tech Fest 2.0 will be held at the Continental Event Center, Katsina City Mall, and is expected to draw participation from startup founders, technology leaders, policy makers, researchers, investors, and development partners across the nation and beyond.
Following its inaugural edition in Kano, this year’s fest aims to deepen conversations around digital transformation and bridge the innovation gap between the North and other parts of the country.
“This is more than an event—it’s a transformative opportunity to spotlight innovation in the North,” the release stated. “The festival serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving that could catalyse regional development.”
The state’s commitment to digital transformation is being anchored by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who has launched several digital policy initiatives, including the establishment of KATDICT. The agency has become a major driver of Katsina’s tech-forward policies, working to integrate smart governance, youth innovation, and investor engagement into the state’s long-term development strategy.
Arewa Tech Fest 2.0 is also expected to feature workshops, keynote sessions, hackathons, and product demos, as part of its goal to tackle real-world challenges using digital tools.
With backing from private sector giants and development institutions, including IHS and Spotlight on Katsina, the event is anticipated to set a new benchmark for grassroots-driven tech progress in Nigeria.
