Katsina State Government Unveils Ambitious Security Plan With Statewide CCTV Installation

In a bold move to tackle persistent security challenges, the Katsina State Government has approved a comprehensive surveillance project that will see CCTV cameras installed across all 34 local government areas and 361 political wards throughout the state.

This significant development was announced by Robo Tambaya, Chairman of Danja Local Government Area and leader of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Katsina State, during a high-profile stakeholders’ town hall meeting organized by the Katsina State Police Command. The gathering, which took place at the Officers’ Mess in Katsina metropolis, formed part of the celebration activities for the maiden Annual Police Day 2025.

I am pleased to inform this distinguished gathering that discussions have reached advanced stages with the Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as Internal Security and Home Affairs, to guarantee maximum security coverage across our state,” Tambaya revealed. “As I speak now, arrangements are being finalized for the deployment of CCTV surveillance cameras throughout our 34 local government headquarters and extending to all 361 political wards to strengthen our community security infrastructure.

Tambaya emphasized that this initiative, which received the full backing of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, represents a substantial investment in the state’s security architecture. He further pledged that local government councils across Katsina would maintain unwavering support for law enforcement agencies in their ongoing battle against insecurity.

The stakeholders present at the meeting expressed strong appreciation for the police force’s commitment to combating criminal activities. They urged security operatives to maintain firm resolve when confronting criminal elements, including taking decisive action against any officers found compromising the integrity of security operations.

Representing Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun at the event, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Musa Abubakar reassured the public about the force’s dedication to maintaining discipline within its ranks.

The Nigeria Police remains one of the most disciplined institutions operating in this country, and we will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any officer caught engaging in misconduct,” AIG Abubakar declared. “The Inspector-General is fully committed to preserving the credibility and integrity of the force.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, also addressed attendees, promising enhanced collaboration with communities to improve security outcomes across the state.

The National Police Day commemoration follows President Bola Tinubu’s official declaration of the event on April 19, 2024, during the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Ceremony held in Abuja.
