June 13, 2025 | Katsina

A total of 1,201 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were officially sworn in for the 2025 Batch B, Stream 1 orientation course in Katsina State on Thursday.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Mani Local Government Area, with state and NYSC officials in attendance.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, while addressing the new corps members, commended their patriotism and urged them to uphold the ideals of unity, discipline, and selfless service.

However, she also appealed to the Katsina State Government and relevant authorities to expedite repairs and upgrades to facilities at the orientation camp, citing aging infrastructure and insufficient amenities.

“This camp has continued to serve the nation well, but it needs critical interventions to enhance safety, comfort, and training effectiveness for corps members,” she said.

The representative of the Katsina State Government, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Usman Haruna, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth development and promised that the issues raised would be addressed promptly.

The corps members were administered the oath of allegiance by Justice Fatima Lawal, who represented the Katsina State Chief Judge.

The three-week orientation course includes paramilitary drills, leadership training, skills acquisition, and lectures on national integration. Security personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of participants throughout the programme.
