Birnin Kebbi | July 29, 2025 — Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has announced that the state government has earmarked ₦6.5 billion in its 2025 budget to renovate primary and secondary schools and provide essential furniture across educational institutions.
The governor made this known while addressing education stakeholders during an engagement session focused on improving learning environments in the state. He emphasized that the investment is part of his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector and addressing the infrastructural decay that has hindered effective teaching and learning in public schools.
According to Idris, the budgetary allocation will cater to the comprehensive renovation of dilapidated school buildings and the procurement of classroom furniture for both teachers and pupils across various local government areas.
“This government is passionate about education because we believe it is the foundation for development. Our plan is to ensure that schools become conducive spaces that encourage academic excellence and moral development,” he stated.
Governor Idris also reiterated his administration’s focus on boosting access to quality education and improving the overall welfare of teachers, which he described as key components of Kebbi State’s human capital development agenda.
The initiative has been welcomed by educationists and community leaders, who have long called for urgent government intervention in the state’s public school infrastructure.
