Kenya Airways Pays NCAA Fine After Passenger Mistreatment Case

Kenya, Nairobi September 19, 2025

Kenya Airways has complied with the sanction imposed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) following consumer protection violations, including the mistreatment of a Nigerian passenger, Mrs. Gloria Ibukun Omisore.

The NCAA confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu. He explained that while the airline has paid the fine, compliance with the financial penalty does not resolve the fundamental concerns that triggered the sanction.

According to Achimugu, the NCAA remains committed to upholding passenger rights and ensuring that airlines operating in Nigeria strictly adhere to consumer protection standards. He noted that the authority will continue monitoring Kenya Airways and other carriers to guarantee fair treatment of passengers and improve service delivery.

The incident involving Mrs. Omisore drew widespread public criticism earlier this year, prompting the NCAA to launch investigations into the airline’s conduct. The regulator stressed that the enforcement action serves as a reminder that breaches of consumer protection regulations will not be tolerated.

Passengers were also encouraged to report grievances promptly to enable the NCAA to take swift corrective measures against airlines that fail to meet their obligations.
