Nigeria’s dominance in table tennis across the West African sub-region was once again affirmed as the duo of Kuti and Ojomu clinched top honours at the just-concluded ITTF West Africa Regional Championship. The tournament, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), brought together the finest players from across the region to compete for continental glory.

Held in a highly charged atmosphere, the championship featured athletes from several West African nations, all vying for supremacy on the table. It was, however, Nigeria’s rising stars, Kuti and Ojomu, who stole the spotlight with their brilliant displays of skill, resilience, and tactical excellence throughout the competition.

In the men’s category, Kuti dazzled spectators and opponents alike with his impressive footwork, consistent topspin drives, and calm demeanor under pressure. He worked his way through a competitive field to claim the men’s singles title, reinforcing his growing reputation on the regional and continental scenes.

Likewise, Ojomu shone brightly in the women’s division, showcasing agility and precision that proved too much for her opponents. Her performance was marked by powerful serves, strategic returns, and unwavering focus that earned her the top spot on the podium.

Both players’ victories not only highlight Nigeria’s continued investment in grassroots table tennis development but also underscore the nation’s growing influence in the West African sporting landscape. Their triumph at the ITTF West Africa Regional Championship adds to Nigeria’s collection of international accolades in the sport and serves as a morale booster ahead of future continental and global events.

Officials of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) have since commended the athletes for their outstanding performances and reiterated the federation’s commitment to nurturing more talents that can compete and win on the international stage.
