Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Governor of Kano State, has urged for calm in Plateau State, following a surge in violent incidents that have claimed numerous lives and caused widespread destruction. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Kwankwaso expressed his deep sorrow over the recent tragic attack on the Zike community, located in Kimakpa, Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area. The attack left 51 people dead and several properties destroyed, intensifying fears about the growing insecurity in the region.
Plateau State, which has long struggled with persistent security challenges, has witnessed a sharp increase in violent incidents over the past few months. The Zike community assault, which follows a series of brutal attacks on five other communities within a span of one week, has brought the state’s security situation to a boiling point. With more than fifty people killed in these attacks, the escalation of violence has raised serious concerns among residents and observers alike about the government’s capacity to restore peace and security.
Kwankwaso, in his statement, expressed his condolences to the people and government of Plateau State, condemning the killings and destruction.
