Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has held a series of high-level strategic meetings with top-ranking officers of the Nigerian Army as part of ongoing efforts to fortify security architecture across the state.
The meetings, which took place on Friday, July 11, 2025, were held at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja and focused on reinforcing civil-military cooperation, improving intelligence sharing, and enhancing rapid response to emerging threats, particularly in border and rural communities.
Governor AbdulRazaq was received by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and other senior military officers. Discussions centred on strengthening operational synergy between state security outfits and the military in the face of rising concerns over kidnapping, armed robbery, and cross-border banditry.
In his remarks, the governor expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for its continued support and presence in Kwara, particularly through the 22 Armoured Brigade in Sobi. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the military with logistics, infrastructure, and inter-agency coordination.
“The safety of our people remains a top priority. These engagements are designed to ensure Kwara remains one of the most secure and peaceful states in Nigeria,” the governor stated.
Responding, General Lagbaja commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s proactive leadership and pledged the Army’s readiness to deepen collaboration with state authorities to maintain peace and national unity.
The strategic engagements come amid broader national conversations on community policing and military-civil cooperation in addressing insecurity across Nigeria.
