Lafarge Records N269bn Revenue in Q2 2025, Approves Merger With UniCem, Atlas

July 23, 2025 – Lafarge Africa Plc has reported a robust sales revenue of N268.63 billion for the second quarter ended June 30, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its financial performance for the year. This development comes as the company’s board approved a strategic merger with its subsidiaries, United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited (UniCem) and Atlas Cement Company Limited.

The announcement was made in a corporate disclosure signed by the company’s Secretary, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, and filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX). The merger move is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, streamlining management structures, and unlocking further synergies within Lafarge’s Nigerian operations.

According to the statement, the merger will enhance Lafarge Africa’s market competitiveness and long-term sustainability in the cement manufacturing sector. “The consolidation of operations will eliminate administrative duplications, reduce operating costs, and improve value delivery to shareholders,” the board stated.

With this merger, Lafarge seeks to unify its corporate governance framework, optimize resources, and align its Nigerian operations with global best practices. Analysts view the decision as a strategic response to the evolving dynamics of the construction and manufacturing sectors, particularly in light of Nigeria’s growing infrastructure demands.

Lafarge Africa’s impressive revenue growth in Q2 reflects strong market performance, increased demand for cement products, and improved production capacity. The merger is expected to take full effect after regulatory approvals are secured from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The company reassured shareholders that it remains committed to transparency, corporate responsibility, and delivering sustainable growth across its business units in Nigeria.
