In a renewed effort to promote awareness and protection of children’s rights, the Directorate of Citizens’ Rights (DCR), under the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, has embarked on a strategic partnership with schools across the state to empower students with knowledge on child rights and the juvenile justice system.

Speaking during an awareness session at one of the participating schools, the Director of Citizens’ Rights, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Odusanya, stressed the importance of early legal education for children. She noted that creating awareness among schoolchildren is essential to building a responsible, informed, and rights-conscious generation.
According to Mrs. Odusanya, the programme is designed to demystify the justice system, sensitize students on the dangers of abuse and exploitation, and educate them on avenues for legal redress and support. “We want our children to understand that they are protected under the law and that there are institutions ready to defend their rights,” she said.
Legal officers from the DCR used the platform to simplify complex legal concepts, using interactive sessions and case illustrations to engage students effectively. Topics covered included the rights of the child
