The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government primaries scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the APC State Secretariat located on ACME Road, Ogba, Ikeja.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, motorists were informed of planned road closures around the venue to ensure security and maintain traffic order during the exercise. ACME Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from the Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends for the duration of the primaries.
To mitigate disruption, the government advised road users to take alternative routes. Motorists coming from Adeniyi Jones were directed to use Aromire Street to link up with Allen Junction. Those heading from Allen Avenue were encouraged to connect via Aromire to Ladipo Oluwole and access the Guinness area. Additionally, travelers from Akilo Road are advised to use Wemco Road or connect through Lateef Jakande to continue onto Omole and surrounding areas.
Mr. Osiyemi urged residents to plan their movements in advance and avoid the affected areas where possible. He assured that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed across the impacted corridors to manage traffic flow and ensure minimal disruption.
The APC primaries are being held as part of preparations for the Lagos local government elections slated for July 12, 2025. According to reports, a total of 432 chairmanship aspirants have been cleared by the party to participate in the exercise.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process while safeguarding the rights and movement of all road users.
