In a continued effort to promote awareness of Town Planning among the younger generation, the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has intensified its school outreach initiative across the state.
As part of the programme, a team from the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) on Tuesday, June 25, 2025, visited three secondary schools: Opebi Grammar School, InterGuide Academy, and Air Force Secondary School.
The outreach aims to “catch them young” by sensitizing students on the relevance of Town Planning, its impact on orderly urban development, and its contribution to sustainable cities.
During the sessions, the LASPPPA team educated the students on the principles of urban planning, land use management, environmental sustainability, and the importance of obtaining planning permits. Visual aids, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer segments formed part of the engagement to ensure the students grasped the core message.
According to officials, the initiative is designed to instil in young minds the values of proper planning, community development, and civic responsibility, thereby building future advocates of sustainable urban growth.
The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development earlier flagged off the initiative with visits to other schools, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to early education on planning ethics and compliance.
The programme is expected to continue across more schools in the coming weeks as the government deepens public enlightenment on the importance of structured physical development in Lagos.
