Lagos Health District V Undertakes Supervision Visit to Ijegun Riverine Community

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery across underserved areas, Lagos State Health District V has embarked on a supervision visit to the Ijegun Riverine Community in Alimosho Local Government Area. The visit, carried out by a team of health officials, aimed to assess the state of healthcare infrastructure, service delivery, and identify challenges facing the residents of the hard-to-reach settlement.

The supervising team, led by officials from the district health office, engaged with community leaders, frontline health workers, and residents to evaluate the performance of existing health facilities and ensure alignment with state health standards. Areas inspected included maternal and child healthcare services, immunization coverage, sanitation practices, and availability of essential medical supplies.

Speaking during the visit, a senior official from Health District V emphasized the importance of extending quality healthcare services to riverine and rural communities, noting that equitable access remains a top priority for the Lagos State Government. The official added that the visit was also a follow-up on previous outreach initiatives and a step towards ensuring sustained healthcare support to vulnerable populations.

Community members expressed appreciation for the visit, calling for improved access to regular medical supplies, mobile clinics, and better transportation infrastructure to ease movement to and from health centres.

The visit to Ijegun Riverine Community reflects the Lagos State Ministry of Health’s broader commitment to inclusivity in healthcare delivery and continuous engagement with grassroots communities across the state.
