Alausa, Lagos – July, 2025 — The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a high-level committee tasked with ensuring that public institutions across the state operate in alignment with relevant laws, policies, and strategic developmental goals.
The inauguration, which took place at the State Secretariat in Alausa, marks a significant step toward deepening good governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of state institutions.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasized that the committee’s mandate is to steer public sector entities toward greater institutional efficiency and legal compliance.
“This committee will ensure that our institutions are strategically guided, policy-aligned, and administratively structured in a manner that upholds the rule of law and promotes the developmental vision of this administration,” she said.
The committee is composed of senior government officials, legal experts, policy analysts, and representatives from key ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). Their responsibilities include reviewing operational structures, monitoring regulatory compliance, identifying gaps in institutional performance, and offering advisory support for sustainable governance practices.
Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Mr. Tolani Akibu, who also addressed the gathering, noted that the initiative will help mitigate administrative lapses, improve service delivery, and bolster citizens’ trust in public governance.
The newly inaugurated body is expected to submit quarterly reports and recommendations directly to the Governor’s Office to ensure continuous alignment with the THEMES+ development agenda.
The inauguration reaffirms the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to institutional reform and effective public administration in Africa’s most populous commercial hub.
