Lagos Launches Agrithon 2025, Seeks Partners for ₦150M Agritech Boost

The Lagos State Government has officially launched Agrithon 2025, a strategic initiative aimed at boosting innovation in the agricultural sector through technology and entrepreneurship. The programme seeks to attract partners to raise ₦150 million in support of agritech startups and young innovators.

Unveiled by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Agrithon 2025 is designed to harness the creativity of young Nigerians to solve pressing agricultural challenges, enhance food security, and drive economic diversification.

Speaking at the launch, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, described Agrithon as “a platform to unlock the potential of youth-driven solutions in agriculture through technology, innovation, and enterprise.” She called on private sector players, development partners, and agritech investors to join forces with the state government to fund and scale homegrown innovations.

The initiative will feature a series of innovation bootcamps, mentorship programmes, pitch competitions, and seed funding for the most promising solutions in precision farming, post-harvest management, smart irrigation, and supply chain optimization.

According to the ministry, Agrithon 2025 aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus agenda, with a special focus on youth empowerment, food sustainability, and climate-smart agriculture.

Applications for participation will open later this month via the ministry’s official portal.
