The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has commenced the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials in preparation for the local government elections taking place across the state today.
The exercise kicked off early Saturday morning at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area where ad hoc staff engaged by LASIEC were seen organizing and dispatching materials for the 14 Local Council Development Areas under the jurisdiction of AmuwoOdofin and Oriade councils.
Kiin360 gathered that the Amuwo-Odofin distribution center served as a crucial logistics hub, with election materials including ballot papers, result sheets, and voting registers being dispatched to designated polling units. The distribution process is being monitored closely by electoral officials and security personnel to ensure transparency, efficiency, and the safety of personnel and materials.

Security operatives were present at the venue to maintain order and prevent any form of disruption. The presence of the police and other security agencies added an extra layer of confidence to the smooth conduct of the logistics operation.
Speaking to journalists at the center, Mrs Adeola Williams, a senior LASIEC official supervising the distribution, expressed optimism about the conduct of the election. She emphasized that the commission had taken adequate measures to guarantee the timely delivery of materials and ensure that no polling unit would be left unattended.
“We are fully prepared and committed to ensuring that every polling unit receives its materials on time. Our goal is to facilitate a seamless electoral process, and the timely distribution of these materials is fundamental to achieving that objective. We have trained our staff thoroughly, and they are ready to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected through this democratic exercise,” Williams stated.

The local government elections in Lagos involve the selection of new chairmen and councillors across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas. LASIEC has pledged a credible and peaceful electoral process and has deployed logistics and technology to support real time monitoring and result collation.
As voting gets underway in many parts of the state, residents are encouraged to participate actively and peacefully, knowing that every vote contributes to shaping the future of grassroots development in Lagos.
