Lagos Onboards 10 More MDAs on E-Procurement Platform, Trains Staff for Full Digitalisation

The Lagos State Government has onboarded 10 additional Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) onto its e-Procurement platform, marking another significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement processes.

The onboarding process was accompanied by an intensive training programme for procurement officers and relevant staff, aimed at ensuring a seamless transition from manual to digital procurement procedures across all government institutions.

The initiative is in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda, particularly under the pillar of “Governance and Structural Reforms,” which prioritises leveraging technology to improve public service delivery.

According to the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (PPA), Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, the state is taking deliberate steps to fully digitise its procurement lifecycle, from requisition to payment, across all MDAs.

“Our target is to achieve full digitalisation before the end of 2025. We are deploying tools, capacity-building, and monitoring systems to ensure accountability and value for money in government transactions,” Onafowote stated.

The newly onboarded MDAs include critical service-focused agencies in infrastructure, education, health, and social services. Their integration is expected to significantly reduce procurement delays and curb corrupt practices in contract awards and project implementation.

The Lagos e-Procurement platform, launched in 2021, has already enhanced procurement efficiency in pilot MDAs and earned commendations from development partners such as the World Bank and Open Government Partnership (OGP).

The state government reaffirmed its resolve to make Lagos a model of digital governance in Africa, with procurement reform at the heart of its innovation strategy.
