The Lagos State Government has commenced a sensitisation campaign for Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) ahead of the forthcoming statewide elections into community leadership structures.
Speaking at the flag-off, officials from the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs explained that the sensitisation exercise is designed to promote transparency, peaceful participation, and inclusiveness in the electoral process at the grassroots level.
According to the government, the engagement will ensure that community leaders, residents, and stakeholders clearly understand the guidelines, rules, and expectations for the elections. The aim, it stressed, is to strengthen community governance and ensure credible leadership selection.
Participants were urged to embrace fairness and shun practices that could undermine unity within their communities. The state also pledged to provide adequate support and monitoring during the elections to forestall irregularities and conflicts.
Community representatives expressed readiness to cooperate with the government, noting that credible elections would enhance accountability and development within their localities.
