Lagos Speaker Hails Tinubu’s Reforms at Stakeholders’ Meeting

LAGOS, Nigeria | September 4, 2025

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as bold reforms and transformative projects driving national development.

Speaking at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting themed “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda” in Lagos on Thursday, Obasa highlighted achievements in security, economic stability, human capital development, and infrastructure.

He cited increased funding and modern equipment for security agencies, which he said had led to the neutralisation of two bandit leaders. On economic reforms, the Speaker noted fiscal adjustments and diversification efforts that have boosted investor confidence and improved Nigeria’s credit rating.

Obasa also pointed to the launch of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), describing it as a landmark initiative to expand access to tertiary education through zero-interest student loans. In infrastructure, he referenced new road networks, port upgrades, and modern facilities aimed at sustaining growth.

On state-level progress, the Speaker said the Assembly had passed more than 467 resolutions and enacted laws on urban management, environmental protection, housing, healthcare, and education. He noted the establishment of two new universities—Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) and Lagos State University of Education (LASUED)—with plans underway for a specialized medical university.

While his remarks underscored the successes of the Renewed Hope Agenda, observers note the absence of critical perspectives or independent verification of some claims, including the security and economic outcomes cited.
