The Lagos State Government has given the green light for the commencement of the second phase of the 2025 entrance screening test into its 16 Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools, as announced by the Lagos State Examinations Board. This move, however, excludes Vetland Junior Grammar School in Ifako-Ijaiye from the upcoming exercise.
The announcement was made public through a statement endorsed by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Orunsolu Adebayo, who disclosed that the second phase of the examination became necessary following widespread appeals received by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education from concerned parents and stakeholders across the state.
According to Adebayo, the Lagos State Government, in response to the volume of requests, approved the second phase to create a fair opportunity for more qualified Primary Six pupils who may have missed the first phase or are just coming of age. Registration for the entrance screening is scheduled to run from Wednesday, July 9 to Friday, August 15, 2025, and will be conducted online.
He further revealed that the screening test itself will be conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2025, across designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres statewide. This aligns with Lagos State’s ongoing commitment to leveraging digital technology in its educational assessment procedures, part of its broader policy of promoting digital literacy and innovation among young learners.
Prospective candidates have been directed to visit the Examinations Board’s official website via examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng to complete the registration process. Upon successful registration, candidates will be required to log in using their personal USERNAME and PASSWORD to download and print their examination slips, which will contain all relevant details including the venue and time of the test.
Mr. Adebayo reiterated that the screening test remains the only official yardstick for placement into any of the Lagos State Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools. The exercise is strictly reserved for Primary Six pupils who meet the eligibility criteria.
The Examinations Board is, therefore, calling on parents, guardians, school heads, and relevant stakeholders to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth and credible conduct of the second phase. The Board assured that all logistics are being put in place to maintain order, fairness, and transparency throughout the process.
This development reflects the Sanwo-Olu administration’s sustained drive to ensure access to quality education, while also embracing digital transformation in public service delivery, particularly within the education sector.
