Lagos, June 22, 2025 – The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has taken its advocacy drive to the classroom, engaging secondary school students on the critical importance of town and urban planning in shaping a sustainable and well-organised society.
During an interactive sensitisation programme, LASPPPA officials educated students on how proper physical planning impacts everyday life, from orderly road layouts to effective waste management and safer communities. The initiative aimed to build early awareness among young people about the significance of structured development and the role citizens play in maintaining the state’s urban integrity.
Addressing the students, LASPPPA representatives highlighted the agency’s core functions, including regulating physical development, ensuring compliance with building standards, and promoting public safety through planning control.
They emphasised that instilling urban planning knowledge at a young age not only creates informed citizens but also nurtures future professionals who will drive Lagos’ development agenda.
“Our cities thrive when development is guided by thoughtful planning. We want these students to understand that town planning isn’t just for professionals, it’s about the quality of life for everyone,” one LASPPPA official stated.
The authority encouraged students to take interest in urban development issues and serve as ambassadors for responsible land use and environmental stewardship in their schools and communities.
The outreach is part of LASPPPA’s ongoing commitment to promote urban education and foster a culture of compliance and sustainability among Lagos residents, starting from the grassroots.
